What is Tarlov Cyst?
Tarlov Cysts are a rare condition, where cysts form at the base of the sacrum. They form around spinal root nerve fibers.
They are more likely to occur in women than in men
It can cause painful radiculopathy.
In most cases, they are located at S2, S3 level.
What causes Tarlov Cyst?
The cause of Tarlov cysts is unknown. However, there are a number of conditions that can increase spinal fluid pressure, such as trauma to the spine.
Pain all over, including extremities.
Weakness and cramping in extremities
Paresthesia, abnormal sensation
Problems emptying the bladder
Swelling and soreness
Headaches, dizziness
Chronic pain can be triggered when the cysts start to compress the surrounding nerves. The Pain can be triggered by:
sitting
standing
sneezing or coughing
Imaging In Diagnosis
MRI or CT Scan
To analyze the appearance, size, and location of cysts.
