What is Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)?
Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic condition that causes pain, swelling, and stiffness of a joint. It usually affects the hands, feet, and wrists. Anybody can be diagnosed with RA but it is more common in the 40-60 age range and women.
What causes RA?
RA is an autoimmune condition. The immune system sends antibodies to the lining of the joints and attacks the surrounding tissue. This causes the synovium to become inflamed, releasing chemicals that damage nearby, bones, cartilage, tendons, and ligaments.
